Captain Ron supplies: all tackle, bait, fishing gear and knowledge
of the most effective techniques to ensure a successful catch of all salmon species,
halibut, rockfish, ling cod, salmon shark and shrimp. All fish are filleted daily and
layered in ice to maintain excellent quality. Some people have a favorite lure they
want to try out in Alaska waters. You're welcome to bring some of your own tackle.
If you want to go ashore and fly fish in the streams you will need to bring your own fly
rods and flies. We have a 14' inflatable raft for trips to shore for fishing, beach
combing or if you just want to get off the boat and stretch your legs. You just have to
let Ron know what you want to do. Remember, this is your trip!We
recommend clothing you can layer. A wind proof coat/jacket, sweatshirts
or sweaters, vest, jacket, hat and gloves. You may want to bring a pair of
longjohns, it can get cool out on the water. Rain gear is essential, including jacket and
pants, water-proof boots, rubber knee boots, hip or chest waders, depending upon whether
you want to fish in streams ashore or from the boat. Some guests just buy boots/rain gear
at Fred Meyers or Wal-Mart in Anchorage. If your boots get wet, we can usually get them
dry overnight. If you want to do a lot of stream fishing you'll definitely want at least
knee boots. So much depends on personal fishing style. Guests come with everything from
water resistant boots to chest waders. Of-course bring a camera and binoculars.
Homemade meals, snacks and non alcoholic beverages are provided and
included in our charters. We regularly cook up the fresh "catch of the
day". Some guests bring along their personal favorite snacks. You are welcome to
bring your favorite libation.
We provide sleeping bags with clean linen, towels, soap and shampoo. We do have 110 power
if you need to recharge camera batteries, etc.
An Alaska fishing license is not included. You can buy fishing
licenses
from Ron or in Anchorage. A 7 day non-resident fishing license is $30. A king salmon stamp
is $30. Children 16 and under aren't required to have a license. There is no senior
discount for non residents.
If your travel plans include an additional week in Alaska, we highly recommend you plan on
fishing with us the second week of your vacation. Freezer space in Alaska is at a premium
during the summer. It can be a problem and expensive to store your fish. |
