New for 2006 "Quality Time in Alaska" |
|
We have some major changes coming to our fishing trips. I think one of the best abilities we have is to move about Alaska to take advantage of remote ocean fishing. Prince William Sound has been our fishing home for 14 years and it has been fantastic fishing, scenic and wildlife experience. I have this addiction to King Salmon fishing, so have decided to go where the best ocean fishing for kings is Kodiak Island. Even though we have king salmon in the sound, we do not have the opportunity to catch a lot of fish in the 25 to 40 lb. range. Some 50 to 80 lbs. I believe it is possible to catch the record king here (97lbs.4oz.). These large kings feed on herring in April, May and June with many of them bound for the Kenai River. Halibut, cod, Rockfish are abundant here. The limit is three King Salmon and 4 Halibut for the trip. We will encourage a lot of catch and release on the Kings but we can freeze salmon aboard, if you would like to take more. Kodiak trips begin May 1. On trips from May 1 thru June 1 you would fly to Kodiak where you board a float plane, then fly directly to the boat. (about 1/2 hour flight) June 1-15 you would meet the boat in Kodiak Harbor. June 15 we will move to homer, where we will continue to fish for king salmon and halibut. July king, red, silver and pink salmon, halibut and ling cod. August halibut, silvers ling cod, misc. bottom fish. Sept. thru April will be either multi or single day charters for winter kings and halibut. Air fare to Kodiak on Alaska Airlines from Denver, for an example is around $600 on Alaska Airlines. Float plane ride from Kodiak to the boat around $250 per person. It may be more or less depending on size of your group, and full plane to and from boat. Luggage weight is going to be critical. Keep it under 50lbs if You can. We recommend very good rain gear as a part of it ... You need layered clothing with polar fleece a good choice as it is very light for its warmth. The Turbo beaver can haul #1600 and normal beaver 1200# ...206 750# If you have 4 200 LB people that leaves 100lbs each for luggage and fish.. Turbo beaver 200lbs. luggage. We can box some of your luggage and mail it when the boat gets to Kodiak. Since customers will be flying directly to the boat on the fishing grounds in Kodiak, our travel time by boat is minimal... You will have as much, or more actual fishing time on a 5 day trip as our 6 day in the sound. Andrews Air of Kodiak will be doing our flying, they are very professional and excellent operators of aircraft in Alaska. You will fly into Homer for all our Homer trips via ERA or Alaska Airlines. Kodiak 5 day 4 nights $1995 person min of 4 persons $1895 with 5 or 6 persons Homer Same as Kodiak Day trips $220 per person (booking available after Mar 1, 2006) If you have any questions e-mail capron@alaska.net or call me 907-235-4368 Homer We are really excited about our move this year, and hope that you can come with us on another wild fishing adventure in the great state of Alaska Sport shows for 2006 St Paul Jan 11-15, Billings Jan 20-22, Denver Jan 26-29 Best regards Captain Ron |
